Shellenberger Field

At the heart of Lynchburg College's athletic facilities is the majestic Shellenberger Field. Named in honor of the founding men's soccer coach, Bill Shellenberger, this beautiful, newly resurfaced in 2016, field is home to Lynchburg men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and field hockey teams. The facility features a large, new artificial turf field, a state-of-the-art eight-lane track, and a spectator capacity of 3,000. Shellenberger Field is a formidable venue for visiting teams, with chair and bleacher seating on one side of the field and residence halls on the other, where student crowds gather to cheer on their Hornets, along with "packing the track" to gain even more of an advantage. Since 2006, the field has been home to 25 ODAC Championships, 28 NCAA Appearences, 2 National Championship Runner-Ups, and 1 National Championship.

The track was named after former athletic director and legendary track and field and cross country coach Dr. Jack M. Toms in 2010. The Men's and Women's Track and Field teams call this home and most recently hosted the 2016 ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Between both teams, there have been 5 ODAC Championships since the track was built in 2010.
